LX Pantos Successfully Completes Complex

Defense Logistics Project for KAI

- Dedicated charter flight secured with overflight clearances across 14 countries, demonstrating advanced defense logistics capabilities

- Expanding its role as a logistics partner to Koreas defense industry by leveraging expertise in multimodal transport across air, ocean, and ground

LX Pantos (CEO: Lee Yong-ho) announced on August 25 that it had successfully completed a cross-border defense logistics project of advanced weapons.

The highly complex project involved transporting air-to-air missiles (AAMs) from France to Korea for the Republic of Korea Marine Corps’ domestically developed Marine Attack Helicopter (MAH) system development program led by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA). LX Pantos carried out the project on behalf of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).

*An air-to-air missile (AAM) is a guided missile launched from an aircraft in flight to engage an airborne target.

The AAMs for the MAH, shipped from European defense contractor M, were transported from Chateauroux Airport in France to Incheon International Airport aboard a charter flight arranged by LX Pantos. They were then transported by road and safely delivered to their final destination, a Republic of Korea Marine Corps unit in Pohang.

For the project, LX Pantos deployed a dedicated charter aircraft, with the missiles carried as the sole cargo on board to ensure stringent safety and security. The shipment consisted of specialized cargo classified as Class 1 explosives, Division 1.2, Compatibility Group E, while the missiles themselves were defense material subject to the highest levels of security control.

Air transportation of dangerous goods such as defense materials is a highly specialized operation that must comply with both the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations and the safety requirements of the relevant national aviation authorities.

Throughout the shipment, LX Pantos successfully navigated complex international transport procedures, including securing overflight clearances from 14 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The company leveraged its expertise in multimodal transport, combining air and ground transportation, together with its own global network, including its European subsidiaries, to execute the operation safely and seamlessly.

LX Pantos has been expanding its defense logistics business since receiving an “Excellent” rating in a security assessment conducted by Korea’s Defense Counterintelligence Command in 2024. Specifically, the company has continued to build experience in providing logistics services for leading Korean defense companies, including KAI, while further strengthening its logistics security capabilities. Of particular note, it has also attained Assessment Level 3 (AL3), the highest assessment level under Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX), demonstrating its ability to meet stringent global information security requirements.

Today, the global defense logistics market is rapidly growing. According to the global market research firm Fortune Business Insights, the market was valued at USD 182.5 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.3%, reaching USD 344.35 billion by 2034.

Commenting on the company’s recent transport contract for KAI, one LX Pantos official said, “We successfully completed a highly complex defense logistics project requiring advanced safety and security management capabilities as well as specialized logistics expertise. We will continue to support leading Korean defense companies and expand our role as a logistics partner to the K-defense industry.”
