LX Pantos Breaks Ground on
Largest Logistics Center at Busan Port
- Land area of 125,720 ㎡ —equivalent to 18 soccer fields
- Backed by LG Electronics’ 10% equity stake in a rare shipper-logistics provider partnership
- Scheduled for completion in December 2026; hub for Northeast Asia and the emerging Arctic route
LX Pantos (CEO: Lee Yong-ho) has commenced construction of a mega-sized logistics center, the New Port Eco Logistics Center, in the Busan New Port Hinterland Complex. By securing critical infrastructure in Busan, which is recognized both as a Northeast Asian logistics hub and an emerging gateway to the newly viable Arctic shipping route, the company aims to drive import and export cargo throughput and bolster national logistics competitiveness.
On June 19, 2025, LX Pantos held a groundbreaking ceremony for the New Port Eco Logistics Center in Sudo-dong, Jinhae-gu, Changwon City, Gyeongsangnam-do. The ceremony was attended by Lee Yongho, CEO of LX Pantos; Lee Jong-wook, the National Assembly Member for Changwon’s Jinhae District; Kim Myung-joo, Vice Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do; Song Sang-geun, President of Busan Port Authority; and other key stakeholders.
Located within the Hinterland Complex of the West Container Terminal at Busan New Port, the new facility spans 125,720㎡—roughly the size of 18 soccer fields—making it the largest logistics center across both Busan New Port and Busan North Port once completed. It will also be the largest logistics center in Korea in terms of floor area (76,083㎡). The center is slated for completion by December 2026.
The total cost of the project amounts to USD 80.2 million, with LX Pantos holding a 90% equity stake and LG Electronics a 10% stake. Such a consortium-based investment by a shipper in a logistics infrastructure is uncommon and highlights an innovative strategic partnership model between consignor and logistics provider.
With the new center, LX Pantos plans to consolidate LG Electronics’ cargo volumes across the Gyeongnam region and deliver customized logistics solutions for clients a wide range of industries. This mega-scale, self-operated hub at a strategic import-export gateway will serve as a solid foundation for further strengthening the company’s *contract logistics capabilities.
*Contract logistics : A long-term, end-to-end logistics service entrusted by shippers, covering inventory and warehouse management, delivery, distribution, processing, and raw material sourcing.
Busan Port handles the world’s second-largest transshipment volume and ranks seventh globally in container throughput, thus solidifying its position as a leading international logistics hub in Northeast Asia. Furthermore, as the Arctic shipping route emerges as the shortest sea link between Asia and Europe, Busan is increasingly positioned as the primary gateway for this new route.
Commenting on this milestone, LX Pantos CEO Lee Yong-ho stated, “Through the New Port Eco Logistics Center—the largest of its kind in the Busan New Port Hinterland Complex—we will ensure stable import-export logistics operations for domestic and global customers while also spearheading the development of high value-added logistics services. As Korea’s premier integrated logistics company, we remain committed to generating even greater cargo volumes and supporting Busan Port’s advancement to become the world’s No. 1 port.”
